Hello Friends,

The 2020 whirlwind continues on. Since our last newsletter, we’ve seen ups and downs with COVID-19 rates, promising vaccine news and a nail-biting general election. And while some states are still counting ballots, we’re keeping an eye on the implications for health policy decision-making and preparing an exciting new resource that will help all of us get to know the newest members of Congress and their health care priorities—scroll down for more info on that!

We've been busy supporting our clients along the way, including launching a new philanthropic fund to support adolescent mental health, sharing critical information on prostate cancer, building a polycystic kidney disease patient advocacy network and kickstarting a movement to improve care for rare kidney disease patients. We also hosted two additional webinars in our Art of Advocacy© series on thought partnership and identifying the right partners for your organization.

While we’re excited about the work we’re doing, the team is still prioritizing our mental and physical health during these tumultuous times—and we hope you’re doing the same!

Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving! We’re so grateful for all of you.

Igniting the Rare Kidney Revolution

Over the past few months, CURA worked with Travere Therapeutics (formerly Retrophin) and NephCure Kidney International to convene patient advocates, industry representatives and government stakeholders to explore policy issues and recommend potential solutions to improve the diagnosis and treatment of rare kidney diseases. Check out the resulting community call to action paper at rarekidneyrevolution.com.

Empowering PKD Advocacy Champions

We teamed up with the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation to launch their Advocacy Champions Network (ACN)—a group of PKD community members around the country empowered to engage in federal advocacy efforts. Members of the ACN are hand-picked to share their personal stories and advance the legislative priorities of the PKD community. Learn more about the ACN at pkdcure.org/advocacy/acn/

Honorable Mention for Outstanding Boutique Agency of the Year!

CURA received an honorable mention for 2020's Outstanding Boutique Agency by PRWeek. The competition was stiff, so we're extremely proud to be among the top of the list!

We celebrated a lot of work anniversaries this fall, with four team members marking off another year at CURA. As indicated in the fun Brady bunch style gif below, Casey celebrates four years at CURA, Kellsie: three, Alex: two, and Andrew: one. Cheers to this CURAgeous bunch!

CURA Makes New Pen Pals!

This fall, we wrote to those living in nursing homes who couldn't have visitors due to COVID restrictions. Physically distancing doesn't mean we have to be socially distant. Checking in with people in your community can go a long way in preventing loneliness and feelings of isolation and we're happy to do our part!
