In the words of Michael Mawby, patient advocacy expert and guest speaker of our latest webinar, “if you want to move policy in a big way, you need partners—whether you’re sitting on the patient side or the corporate side.”
On September 29, CURA presented the fourth webinar in our “Art of Advocacy” series: Identifying the Right Partners to Catalyze, Convene and Align. In August, we defined thought partnership and underscored the value of partnering with those who share your mission. In this webinar, we built on that concept by sharing our quantifiable approach to vetting and selecting passionate stakeholders to ensure successful, long-term partnerships. Webinar speakers included the following leaders in partnership outreach and forging sustainable relationships:
- Michael Mawby, patient advocacy and government affairs expert consultant
- Anne Woodbury, CEO, CURA Strategies
- Scott Leezer, VP of Government Relations, CURA Strategies
During the webinar, Anne presented CURA’s Influencer Index, a methodology for quantitatively and qualitatively evaluating stakeholders and analyzing how well they meet your criteria for a particular project. The Index can be rigorous, but we guarantee you’ll identify the right partners to help you achieve your advocacy goals.
Partnership Impact Case Study
Guest speaker Michael Mawby shared his experience working with key stakeholders on both the patient and corporate side to successfully pass a state mandate that covered infertility procedures and medications. It took three Congressional sessions, but it was the first successful effort in the infertility space since the passage of the Affordable Care Act. Without identifying the right partnerships and stakeholders to champion the issue, Mawby stated, the coverage of infertility procedures and medications wouldn’t have been possible.
