Thy-Ann Nguyen, SVP and Managing Director of CURA Strategies, was named an Emerging Leader in the Small/Boutique Agency category at the Washington Women in Public Relations (WWPR) 10th Annual Emerging Leaders Awards on June 18, 2019.
Washington Women in Public Relations (WWPR) is a member-based professional society cultivating and inspiring female communicators to reach their full potential in the DC market and beyond. The organization is committed to providing opportunities for leadership, professional development, mentorship and industry networking.
Each year, the WWPR Emerging Leaders Awards recognize rising stars, women aged 25-35, who have excelled in public relations and related fields and given back to the industry by contributing their skills and talents to innovative initiatives and projects. The 18 finalists were grouped in six categories: Small/Boutique Agency, Mid-Sized Agency, Global & Large Agency, Government, Non-Profit and In-House.
Thy-Ann won the award by demonstrating excellence not only in client work but in team management. As Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Thy-Ann is responsible for overseeing company operations and leading multiple client accounts at any given time. Thy-Ann has experience planning and implementing successful strategic communications programs for clients across the health care spectrum—from large global medical device and pharmaceutical corporations to associations and small non-profits. She constantly brings a positive attitude and devoted work ethic to the team, motivating her coworkers every day to be the best they can for each other and their clients.
When asked about her advice to young PR professionals, Thy-Ann shared, “Take the time to cultivate relationships. The relationships you build throughout your career will open many doors for you—it has certainly done so for me, and continues to be the most rewarding part of my job.”
